Entropie have been awarded the IT and Data fit out contract for DHL’s new head office and distribution centre in Slough. Our team are already underway with installation works following the festive break and the project is expected to last around 8 months with final competition and opening expected before the end of the year.
DHL announced the £32 million investment to move its head office and distribution hub from Hounslow, to Colnbrook in Poyle, in July 2015. The new building will continue to serve as the DHL head office, distribution hub, service centre and an operations centre.
The contract will include the installation of 2500 Cat6 outlets and approximately 10km of fibre optic cabling connecting the entire backbone for the data network, access control and security systems.
The new infrastructure will allow the hub to be ‘fully automated’, with fork lift trucks being eliminated to help improve quality and access of handling, with safety being improved as a result.
